The Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail will host the first annual Ahnapee Trail Century Ride, a noncompetitive bicycle tour for all ages. The event on Saturday, September 25, will offer 13-, 32- and 64-mile routes through cedar wetlands, farm fields, orchards and woodlands surrounding Luxemburg, Casco, Algoma and Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, in Kewaunee and Door counties.

The course will begin in the parking lot of the Luxemburg-Casco Intermediate School in Luxemburg and proceed to the Ahnapee State Trail starting at 7 a.m. The last rider needs to be on the course by 10 a.m. On-site registration will open at 6 a.m.

The trail is a crushed limestone surface and is suitable for just about any bicycle. The trail is flat but riders can expect some variation as they travel in and out of river valleys and through lowland areas.

All pre-registered riders will receive an event T-shirt and a goody bag. There will be three well-stocked rest areas in Casco, Algoma and Maplewood. Following the ride, participants will be treated to a spaghetti dinner at the Luxemburg-Casco Intermediate School.

The Ahnapee Trail Century Ride is cosponsored by Trikes to Bikes & More, QualiT Inc., Weber Insurance, Bellin Health and Baylake Bank. All proceeds will go toward further development of the trail.

The cost is $25 for individual riders and $65 for families of four riders. After September 14, the price will increase to $35 for individuals and $75 for families. T-shirts are not guaranteed to late registrants.

Registration is available at active.com and more information is available on Facebook. Just search for “Friends of the Ahnapee Trail.” For more information contact the event organizer by calling 920/866-2453 or e-mailing melissa@trikes2bikes.com.
